Loan Credit Analyst

Job Description:

The Loan Credit Analyst reviews and evaluates borrower financial information to support loan approval and credit decisions. This role works with Relationship Managers and lending teams to analyze financial statements, cash flow, credit history, debt obligations, collateral, and industry conditions while identifying potential credit risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review tax returns, balance sheets, income statements, credit reports, debt schedules, collateral records, lease agreements, and property information.
• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial information to determine creditworthiness and repayment ability.
• Evaluate historical and projected cash flow, liquidity, leverage, profitability, and overall financial performance.
• Review loan applications and recommend appropriate credit structures and risk ratings.
• Prepare detailed loan credit analyses using financial data, spreadsheets, charts, formulas, and written reports.
• Assess collateral values and other factors that may affect loan repayment and credit risk.
• Underwrite commercial loan requests of varying complexity with limited supervision.
• Research borrowers, industries, markets, and other factors that may influence credit decisions.
• Monitor loan covenants and support ongoing portfolio and credit reviews.
• Follow applicable banking regulations, lending policies, and internal credit requirements.
• Work with Relationship Managers on periodic reviews of commercial loan relationships.
• Participate in quality control reviews of financial spreads, loan documentation, and credit analyses.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior credit analysts.
• Provide guidance on loan policies, underwriting practices, credit structures, and risk recommendations.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required.
• Seven to nine years of banking experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
• Four to six years of experience in loan analysis, credit analysis, commercial lending, underwriting, or a related position.
• Experience with financial spreading software is required.
• Commercial banking experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Frequent use of a computer keyboard and mouse.
• Occasional lifting or carrying of items weighing up to 10 pounds.
• Frequent sitting during regular work activities.
• Moderate office noise levels.
• Typical weekday schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Regular and dependable attendance is required.
