Job Descrption:

Old National Bank is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to join its Lending and Credit team. This role is responsible for evaluating commercial lending opportunities, analyzing financial information, assessing credit risk, and ensuring loan structures align with bank lending standards. The Commercial Underwriter works closely with Relationship Managers and internal teams to provide credit expertise, support portfolio management, and help deliver responsible lending solutions.

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple credit requests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3-7 years of progressive experience in commercial real estate underwriting, commercial credit analysis, or related lending roles.
• Ability to independently analyze and interpret financial statements and credit information.
• Knowledge of loan structuring, lending practices, credit risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to communicate credit recommendations clearly and effectively.
• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities:

Loan Underwriting and Credit Review:

• Review and analyze commercial loan applications, financial statements, and credit information to evaluate risk.
• Assess borrower financial strength, repayment ability, and industry factors to support lending decisions.
• Prepare credit documentation and ensure loan requests follow bank policies and guidelines.
• Manage multiple loan reviews while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Relationship Team Support:

• Work with Relationship Managers and internal teams to provide credit guidance and support loan decisions.
• Communicate credit findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to support business goals.
• Collaborate with lending teams to develop effective solutions for clients.

Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Management:

• Monitor commercial loan portfolios and identify potential credit risks.
• Review financial updates, loan performance, and compliance requirements.
• Support portfolio reviews and assist with risk management activities.
