Job Summary:

The Loan Consultant role involves the initiation of mortgage loans in a designated non-bank territory. Responsibilities include processing loan applications, conducting initial underwriting reviews, and forwarding applications for processing and underwriting approval. It is crucial for the individual to secure required documentation promptly for processing, underwriting, and closure. Additionally, the position requires active involvement in generating and soliciting loan transactions and performing sales-related tasks outside U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Primarily responsible for originating mortgage agreements within a specific territory not affiliated with traditional banking establishments.
• Evaluates loan applications, performs preliminary underwriting checks, and submits them for processing and underwriting consideration.
• Promotes the prompt gathering of necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closure.
• Consistently involved in selling loans in locations other than U.S. Bank branches, with a substantial amount of time, around 50%, spent in external environments.

Basic Qualifications:

• Meeting the educational standards of high school or a similar certification.
• A year or more of work experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking is needed.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Familiarity with the pricing strategies and risk evaluation criteria utilized by various mortgage insurance companies is necessary.
• Awareness of the underwriting criteria for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors to facilitate smooth processes.
• Foundational awareness of legal principles governing different geographic jurisdictions.
• Competence in working without constant supervision.
• Excellent capacity for examining financial information effectively.
• Demonstrating competence in verbal and written communication aptitude.
• It is ideal to have an established clientele base that can provide recommendations within the assigned market.
