Job Summary:

The Mortgage Sales Consultant is responsible for initiating mortgage loans within a designated non-bank region. Their duties include accepting loan requests, conducting initial underwriting assessments, and presenting applications for processing and underwriting evaluation. They will also be responsible for ensuring prompt acquisition of necessary documentation for processing, underwriting, and finalizing loan agreements. The position entails actively participating in generating and soliciting loan transactions and engaging in sales-related tasks outside of U.S. Bank premises.

Mortgage Sales Consultant Key Responsibilities:

• Tasks include originating mortgage loans for clients in a defined area not associated with traditional banking institutions.
• Reviews loan requests, performs initial underwriting evaluations, and forwards applications to processing and underwriting departments for authorization.
• Acts promptly to gather all necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing processes.
• Frequently involved in off-site loan sales activities, dedicating a minimum of half their time outside U.S. Bank premises.

Mortgage Sales Consultant Basic Qualifications:

• Completion of high school requirements or a comparable credential.
• The job requires a minimum of one year of experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Familiarity with the pricing strategies and underwriting requirements of diverse mortgage insurance companies is necessary.
• Understanding the necessary criteria for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors when assessing underwriting needs.
• Basic awareness of laws concerning different geographical scopes such as local, state, and national.
• Capability to function autonomously.
• High competency in processing and analyzing financial information.
• Being proficient in both spoken and written communication abilities.
• It is preferable to have an existing set of referrals within the assigned market segment.
