Job Summary:Mortgage Loan Officer

The Mortgage Loan Officer performs a variety of tasks linked to the initiation of residential 1st mortgages sourced from external referrals. Meets set sales and cross-selling goals established by superiors. Holds complete responsibility for the residential mortgage loan journey, from application to closing. Assumes responsibility for risk by openly discussing ideas and concerns, raising issues, and adhering to policies and procedures as stipulated.

Skills Required:

• Having a high school diploma or its equivalent is compulsory, while a four-year college degree is preferred.
• Comprehension of common or official borrowing guidelines.
• grasping the residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing protocols.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Skilled in articulating messages through writing as well as speaking.
• Presented adeptness in working collaboratively with a team and providing top-notch customer service.
• Proven computer skills.
• Key elements of sales technique knowledge.
• Unwavering commitment to excel in a fiercely competitive field.

Crucial responsibilities and assignments:

• Develop a roster of referral contacts including real estate agents, builders, and personal acquaintances for networking purposes.
• Be knowledgeable about the policies and procedures in place at Fifth Third Mortgage Company.
• Maintain awareness of the loan products available, processing procedures, underwriting standards, and general departmental guidelines.
• Stick to the outlined protocol for dealing with escalation anomalies.
• Process applicant applications by completing the Fannie Mae form 1003 on the laptop.
• Engage the laptop for communication purposes and to access daily interest rates, review applicant credit reports, interpret Loan Prospector feedback, and send the loan to LOMAS.
• Obtain appropriate paperwork from each applicant and deliver the loan package within the designated time frames as directed by management.
• Regulate the advancement of all loan originations until finalization and create essential supervisory reports.
• Provide branches and/or applicants with timely updates and progress reports to keep them informed.
• Maintain a strong focus on customer service excellence while managing the expectations of applicants as well as support staff.
• Ensure attendance and active involvement in all Consumer Lending meetings as stipulated by management.
