Job Overview:Portfolio Risk Manager

Responsible for underwriting credit exposure for Wholesale Banking clients and managing a Middle Market or CML portfolio. This role includes daily client interaction, portfolio risk management, and strict adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements. A key responsibility is the early identification of emerging credit issues and industry trends.

Fundamental Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the full commercial underwriting process for potential customers and clients by conducting analysis, preparing documentation, and collaborating with internal and external parties.
• Oversee and structure the financial details of all client and potential deals, validating the accuracy of real estate appraisals, environmental studies, and UCC investigations.
• Examine financial documentation, corporate plans, and potential risks, offering justified suggestions and credit alternatives.
• Retain an extensive knowledge of client industries and the bank’s range of credit and ancillary products to advise on appropriate loan structures.
• Guarantee that underwriting practices adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements and are consistent with the bank's risk framework.
• Keep watch over the designated portfolio by analyzing its performance, trends, and potential credit issues, and responding promptly to mitigate any problems.
• Uphold the accuracy of risk scoring, complete annual audits, share financial statements, and conduct all necessary compliance and regulatory checks.
• Supervise revisions and waivers in the specific portfolio by maintaining a risk management strategy that is transparent, forward-thinking, and proactive.
• Partner with internal product teams to create and present credit solutions that align with client needs and match the bank's pricing and risk acceptance criteria.
• Deliver an autonomous, current, and future-focused risk assessment of assigned clients and prospects, with a focus on creating risk management recommendations.
• Oversee a diverse portfolio with significant credit exposure, demanding strong judgment, effective problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to make independent decisions.
• Establish and communicate an independent viewpoint to impact significant credit assessments and guide junior team members as necessary.
• Participate in and lead initiatives or projects that support the overall Portfolio Management platform beyond the typical portfolio duties.
• Focus on upholding rigorous operational and credit risk standards while providing excellence in credit and underwriting analysis.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in finance or a related field is compulsory.
• Proficient in evaluating commercial credit for more than five years.
• High proficiency in utilizing MS Office software.
• Adept at interpersonal communication and proficient in both written and verbal exchanges.
• Showed proficient credit judgment and analytical skills.
• Exceptional care in examining details.
• Effectiveness in prioritizing tasks and handling multiple responsibilities concurrently in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred:

• Previous involvement in a similar position at a commercial financial corporation.
• Specialized skills tailored to a specific industry or sector.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of Truist's operating interfaces, including COMPASS, MRA, Salesforce, and nCino.
