Job Description:

Responsible for providing an independent perspective in underwriting and managing complex Wholesale Banking loans and relationships up to the bank's legal lending limit. Partners with Relationship Managers, Credit Portfolio Managers, and the Credit Portfolio Management Team Leader in delivering credit solutions through underwriting, portfolio management, deal team management, and extensive internal and external client interaction.Manage assigned portfolio by monitoring performance, ensuring risk rating integrity, covenant compliance, issue identification, and remediation follow through.Participate in special projects to improve portfolio management processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent underwriting for new and renewal credit opportunities
• Analyze financial statements, cash flows, and industry risk factors
• Assess collateral, guarantor support, and credit structure
• Prepare financial projections using Moody’s or Excel models
• Recommend credit structure, exposure, and policy compliance
• Manage portfolio performance, risk ratings, and covenant compliance
• Identify and resolve credit risk issues proactively
• Lead or participate in client and relationship manager meetings
• Support portfolio management process improvement initiatives
• Ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance (including BSA and AML)
• Coordinate with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, and Treasury teams
• Support mentoring of junior Credit Portfolio Managers

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. Seven or more years of experience in commercial and government contract lending environment required.

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience across C and I, CRE, government, retail, and service sectors
• Strong commercial credit and underwriting expertise
• Advanced financial statement and cash flow analysis skills
• Knowledge of construction lending (if applicable)
• Proficiency in Moody’s or similar financial systems
• Strong decision-making and business judgment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in structuring and negotiating credit facilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
