Job Description:

This role involves aiding UMB relationship managers in evaluating and underwriting new SBCRE managed investment loans in alignment with established underwriting policies and standards.

Making the Most of Your Available Time:

• Partner with UMB relationship managers to perform credit underwriting duties for existing/prospective client relationships, which may include but are not limited to the following:
• Scrutinize the financial viability of the borrower or guarantor by conducting a thorough credit assessment
• Appropriate loan structuring recommendations
• Arrange and submit the credit proposals to the credit committee for their approval assessment
• Preparation of underwriting documents involves evaluating collateral in various asset classes and developing pricing and risk rating models that are appropriate for each individual credit application.
• Assume the responsibility of presenting loan submissions to the UMB senior loan committee on behalf of relationship managers and addressing inquiries pertaining to the evaluation and authorization of the loan.
• Ensure that the appraisal assumptions are in line with the underwriting assumptions and satisfy any approval criteria by reviewing the appraisal upon receipt.
• Provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint sales calls with relationship managers or direct correspondence with clients, and perform various projects/tasks as needed with an emphasis on maintaining UMB TUCE at all times.
• Promptly resolve all related issues while filing the requisite forms and reports in an efficient manner.
• Coordinate with colleagues across departments such as loan operations, credit analysis, regional commercial banking, business banking, special asset management group, loan review, public finance, capital markets, and international banking to streamline commercial loan decisions, the concluding process, and perpetual commercial loan management.
• Be an active participant in various REG underwriting projects, as circumstances allow.
• Guide and mentor REG underwriters and/or portfolio managers new to the field.

• Successful applicants will need to have completed a bachelor's program in business, accounting, finance, or a similar discipline
• Excellent communication skills
• Expertise in the identification and management of maturing loans, term loan renewals, loan restructuring, approval procedures, terms adjustment, and the implementation of new underwriting methods
• Exhibits advanced comprehension of credit underwriting for primary investment commercial real estate assets across various sectors. Demonstrates a solid grasp of bank operations, services, and products
• Capacity to interpret and apply policies/procedures, loan contracts, along with a strong command of interpreting credit reports, financial statements, and loan documents
• The role demands strong analytical skills, including the underwriting of commercial real estate properties and markets, and the examination of guarantor financial statements, which include real estate details
• Possessing the aptitude to independently kickstart tasks, exhibit initiative, and transfer knowledge to junior associates
• Possesses strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as software utilized in commercial lending
