Job Summary:Loan Consultant

The Loan Consultant is responsible for a broad array of tasks associated with the initiation of 1st residential mortgage loans from external referrals. Meets sales objectives and cross-selling benchmarks established by management. This role is in charge of the complete residential mortgage loan process, from the application phase to the closing stage. Assumes responsibility and liability for risk by engaging in open communication, sharing ideas and concerns, and following the prescribed policies and procedures.

Key functions and accountabilities:

• Establish connections with realtors, constructors, and personal acquaintances to expand your referral base.
• Ensure familiarity with the operational rules and processes of Fifth Third Mortgage Company.
• Ensure familiarity with the available loan options, processing methodologies, underwriting principles, and general departmental guidelines.
• Follow the prescribed guidelines for addressing escalation irregularities.
• Receive candidate applications by filling out the Fannie Mae form 1003 using a laptop.
• Make use of the laptop to communicate effectively and stay updated on daily interest rates, examine applicant credit reports, interpret Loan Prospector information, and submit the loan to LOMAS.
• Accrue the suitable paperwork from all applicants and provide the loan package within the time constraints outlined by management.
• Control the processing of loans from origination until conclusion and fulfill obligatory managerial summaries.
• Ensure branches and/or applicants are informed in a timely manner by providing updates and reports on progress.
• Sustain excellent levels of customer service while managing the expectations of applicants and support staff.
• It is important to be present and contribute to all prescribed Consumer Lending meetings as needed by those in charge.

Skills Required:

• Mandatory to have a high school diploma or its equivalent, with a preference for a four-year college education.
• Knowledge of customary or state-approved lending standards.
• Knowledge of the protocols for handling residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
• Illustrated strong teamwork and client interaction capabilities.
• Proven computer skills.
• Core competencies in sales techniques.
• Powerful drive to outperform in a high-pressure situation.
