Job Description for Banking Consultant:

In the branch team, the Banking Consultant's primary responsibilities include attracting new clients, strengthening existing relationships, and helping clients gain confidence in achieving their financial goals. This role requires a focus on the client's needs, a strong drive for sales, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.   • Pay close attention to client interactions to identify opportunities for promoting financial wellness and provide tailored suggestions to help clients improve their overall financial health.
  • Sustains a pattern of fulfilling individual expectations for activity, conduct, and results.
  • Creating personal and business banking accounts encompassing consumer checking services, small business account management, a range of deposit options, home equity loans, unsecured credit facilities, and certificate of deposit investments.
  • Establishing strong relationships with branch colleagues and business allies to drive client acquisition and deepen connections with current clients, effectively overseeing both internal and external influencers.
  • Upholding operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including detailed documentation of client engagements.
  • Being available to support branch operations by aiding with customer transactions at the Teller line.
  • Be part of and at times facilitate morning catch-ups and evening retrospectives.
  • Responsible for performing other assigned tasks; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may shift, with new ones potentially assigned without prior notice.
  • Follows all KeyBank policies and procedures by acting professionally, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and consistently operating in the best interests of Key and its clients.

Education Qualifications:

  • Equivalent business experience is obligatory in lieu of a high school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in fostering existing and potential customer connections, meeting sales goals, and creating referral networks is a prerequisite. Sales experience is considered more significant than financial services familiarity for this particular role within KeyBank. KeyBank provides the necessary tools and training, but they value candidates who are proficient in building relationships, have a curious nature, and can effectively initiate conversations to drive positive interactions.   • Understanding consumer credit involves grasping the loan-to-value ratio, which is a measure of the loan amount in relation to the value of the collateral. This ratio helps lenders assess the risk associated with a loan and determine the appropriate terms
  • Key knowledge of sales and customer service strategies for working with clients, encompassing tele-consultations, cold calls, prospecting, and networking efforts. (compulsory)
  • Proficient in confidently interacting with small business clientele, handling objections, and asking probing questions to gather essential information and provide help
  • Confirmed experience with influencing business partners and harnessing centers of influence is essential for this role, as it will involve significant influence over partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking sales teams. (required)
  • Required qualifications include a solid understanding of PCs, with expertise in MS Windows and Office applications like Word and Excel
  • Critical abilities encompass a practical grasp of digital technology (including mobile devices, apps, and internet surfing) and the capacity to enlighten clients on the digital tools and capabilities within Key

Tactical Skills:

  • Exhibits proficiency in understanding the client's financial accounts and bank-related matters and applies sound judgment in customer dealings and transaction processing
  • Demonstrated capability to achieve sales and referral targets through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients' financial wellness goals, utilizing generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional connections
  • Maintaining high levels of integrity and demonstrating a strong work ethic
  • Superior capacity for handling time wisely and productively

  • Frequent reliance on hands for handling materials
  • Proficiency in conveying messages clearly through both face-to-face communication and telephone conversations
  • Occasional need to stoop down and lift items from lower positions
  • Frequent forward reaching
  • Consistently lifting weights of 1-10 pounds; sometimes needing to handle loads up to 30 pounds.
