The position involves working as a Mortgage Banker, helping clients navigate the mortgage application process and informing them about the various mortgage options they can explore. The main responsibility of the Mortgage Banker is to create fresh mortgage opportunities through internal and external leads. Key tasks in this role include receiving loan applications, evaluating applicant details, gathering required documents, and assisting customers throughout the loan process. The Mortgage Banker establishes clear expectations, provides regular updates, and ensures adherence to the bank's credit policies and guidelines.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

• Initiate the provision of mortgage loans and enhance business prospects by obtaining referrals, engaging in networking endeavors, and establishing partnerships with entities such as banks, real estate agents, developers, and financial professionals.
• Fulfill the minimum production quotas:
• Monthly target: 5 units or $1.0 million worth of loans
• 90-day average: 15 units or a sum of $3.0 million in loans
• Form alliances with designated bank branches and educate staff members on how to identify and refer potential mortgage customers.
• Establish a client base through a combination of self-sourcing and bank referrals.
• Sustain proactive communication with mortgage operations teams and supervisory staff for efficient coordination.
• Preserve a professional outlook and ensure the privacy of customer information.
• Assess the financial needs of customers in order to suggest appropriate mortgage solutions that meet their specific requirements.
• Guide and oversee the loan process, ensuring a smooth transition from application to closing.
• Stay vigilant about lending regulations and ensure conformity with all policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not involve managing other employees or supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

• Education: The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma; those having pursued further education will be highly valued.
• Knowledge: A comprehensive grasp of mortgage lending policies, credit scrutiny processes, and underwriting stipulations is required; NMLS certification is obligatory.
• Experience: 3–5 year background in mortgage banking, covering FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, and VA initiatives.

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrating strong communication skills and relationship-building capabilities is vital.
• Assessing financial data and enhancing interviewing skills.
• Adept at operating business tools and computer programs effectively.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent verbal discussions and focused listening.
• Frequent and repetitive manipulation of hands and fingers.
• Aptitude for examining documents and using office appliances.
• A current driver's license is essential for this outside sales position.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
