As a Mortgage Specialist, the primary responsibilities include assisting clients with their mortgage applications and providing guidance on various loan options available. The Mortgage Specialist holds the duty of soliciting fresh mortgage business from both internal and external sources. Fundamental aspects of this position include accepting loan applications, scrutinizing applicant records, gathering mandatory paperwork, and providing guidance to borrowers through the loan procedure. The Mortgage Specialist defines clear benchmarks, furnishes regular progress reports, and guarantees alignment with bank credit regulations and benchmarks (GSE, FHA, VA).

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Generate mortgage deals and foster business growth by leveraging referrals, networking opportunities, and partnerships with key players including banks, real estate agents, contractors, and financial specialists.
• Meet the productivity benchmarks that have been established:
• Monthly: 5 units or $1.0 million in loan volume
• 90-day average: 15 units or $3.0 million in loan volume
• Establish relationships with designated bank branches and inform team members about the benefits of referring mortgage clients.
• Build client relationships through personal efforts and referrals from banking partners.
• Ensure ongoing and clear communication with mortgage operations teams and managers to facilitate smooth operations.
• Uphold a professional demeanor while safeguarding customer information.
• Analyze the financial needs of clients and offer recommendations on mortgage products that are well-suited to their individual circumstances.
• Handle the entire loan process spanning from the application stage all the way to the closing procedure.
• Stay abreast of lending regulations and ensure adherence to all policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• There are no supervisory obligations associated with this position.

Qualifications:

• Education: Candidates should have a high school diploma as a minimum qualification; an advanced degree is advantageous.
• Knowledge: Proficiency in mortgage lending policies, credit assessment, and underwriting prerequisites is crucial; NMLS certification is mandatory.
• Experience: 3–5 years of mortgage banking experience, involving FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, and VA programs.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to cultivate relationships are highly valued.
• The study of financial metrics alongside refining interview capabilities.
• Proficient in navigating computer systems and utilizing essential business applications.

Physical Requirements:

• Recurrent actions involving the use of hands and fingers.
• Capability to assess papers and operate office tools.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is mandated for this outside sales role.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
