Role Overview:

Old National Bank is seeking a Credit Risk Underwriter to join its Lending and Credit department. The primary responsibilities of this position include reviewing commercial loan opportunities, analyzing financial information, assessing credit risk, and ensuring loan structures comply with the bank's lending standards. The Credit Risk Underwriter works closely with Relationship Managers and internal teams to provide credit expertise, support portfolio management, and help deliver responsible lending solutions.

This position requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple credit requests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3-7 years of progressive experience in commercial real estate underwriting, commercial credit analysis, or comparable lending roles.
• Ability to independently review and interpret financial statements and credit information.
• Understanding of loan structuring, lending practices, credit risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to clearly communicate credit recommendations and findings to internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Core Responsibilities:

Loan Review and Credit Assessment:

• Assess commercial loan applications by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and supporting documentation to determine overall credit risk.
• Evaluate borrower financial strength, debt repayment capacity, and relevant industry factors when making lending recommendations.
• Prepare accurate credit documentation and verify that loan requests meet established bank policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage multiple credit reviews simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting required deadlines.

Relationship Team Collaboration:

• Partner with Relationship Managers and internal departments to provide credit guidance and support lending decisions.
• Communicate credit findings, identified risks, and recommendations clearly while keeping business objectives in consideration.
• Collaborate with lending teams to develop appropriate financing strategies and solutions for clients.

Portfolio Oversight and Risk Management:

• Monitor commercial loan portfolios and identify emerging credit risks or potential concerns.
• Review financial updates, loan performance, and compliance with applicable lending and regulatory requirements.
• Support portfolio reviews, credit monitoring activities, and broader risk assessment initiatives.
