Position Overview:Internal Audit Associate

The Internal Audit Associate is responsible for supporting the execution and documentation of risk-focused internal audit activities, which may include complex and specialized assignments. This role involves reviewing audit outcomes, identifying control weaknesses, and recommending value-driven improvements. Additionally, the Senior Internal Auditor may oversee key components of smaller audits or focused evaluations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Organize and conduct client meetings, capturing results through written summaries, flowcharts, and process diagrams to illustrate complex operational workflows.
• Evaluate process documentation to assess the effectiveness, performance, and optimization of existing control structures.
• Develop and implement audit testing strategies supported by data analytics techniques.
• Identify control deficiencies, related risks, and underlying root causes.
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff to support their growth and overall productivity.
• Present audit findings clearly and concisely to both Management and the Engagement Manager.
• Enhance auditing skills by advancing risk assessment and project management capabilities.
• Expand understanding of business operations, internal procedures, and compliance with banking regulations.
• Prepare audit documentation in accordance with Truist Audit Services standards and guidelines.
• Work independently with minimal oversight to meet deadlines and fulfill assigned tasks.
• Accept and integrate constructive feedback to continually improve performance.

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
• Four to six years of experience in banking, auditing, or a related discipline.
• Increasing knowledge of core technology concepts, cybersecurity practices, IT infrastructure management, IT service processes, and industry technology trends.
• Familiarity with IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Application Controls (ITACs), and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Growing understanding of IT, information security, and cloud governance frameworks such as COSO, COBIT, NIST, SOX, and PCI DSS.
• Strong decision-making abilities.
• Solid knowledge of auditing methods, principles, procedures, risk assessment, and documentation practices.
• Developing analytical, auditing, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to interpret and understand complex data concepts.
• Ability to identify root causes and synthesize information into practical solutions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying complexity.
• Capacity to work independently with little supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CIA, or a willingness to pursue them.
• Experience using Truist Audit Services tools and specialized business software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
• Ability to verify the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of regulatory validation data and documentation.
• Experience in developing and executing regulatory validation testing procedures and methodologies.
