Role Overview:

Old National Bank is looking for a Credit Underwriter to be part of its Lending and Credit division. The key responsibilities of this role include assessing commercial lending opportunities, analyzing financial information, evaluating credit risk, and ensuring loan structures comply with the bank's lending standards. The Credit Underwriter works closely with Relationship Managers and internal teams to offer credit expertise, assist in portfolio management, and help provide responsible lending solutions.

The position mandates a high level of analytical prowess, a meticulous mindset, and the ability to handle multiple credit inquiries efficiently in a fast-paced atmosphere while ensuring precision, effectiveness, and adherence to defined policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• A comprehensive 3-7 years of experience specializing in commercial real estate underwriting, commercial credit analysis, or analogous lending roles.
• Capacity to autonomously analyze and interpret financial statements and credit information.
• Knowledge about loan structuring, lending norms, assessing credit risks, and regulatory mandates.
• Displays strong analytical skills, proficiency in resolving issues, and making thoughtful decisions.
• Capable of clearly communicating recommendations concerning credit evaluations.
• Comfortable alternating between working independently and engaging with a team.
• Educational requirements include a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Credit Review and Underwriting:

• Examine commercial loan applications along with financial statements and credit details to assess potential risks.
• Consider borrowers' financial viability, their ability to repay loans, and industry-specific factors when assessing lending viability.
• Prepare credit documentation and ensure that loan requests adhere to the rules and guidelines of the financial institution.
• Concurrently handle multiple loan examinations while ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Relationship Team Collaboration:

• Work alongside Relationship Managers and internal divisions to deliver credit guidance and aid in lending decisions.
• Succinctly communicate credit analysis, risks, and actionable recommendations to support business objectives.
• Assist lending teams in developing effective solutions for client needs.

Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Management:

• Monitor commercial loan portfolios to identify potential credit risks.
• Review recent financial data, loan performance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Assist in conducting portfolio reviews and supporting risk management activities.

Core Competencies:

• Competent in financial analysis and skilled in problem resolution.
• Ability to make credit decisions through careful analysis of data and risk factors.
• Strong communication skills coupled with effective teamwork abilities.
• Competence in handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
• Knowledge of commercial lending and credit practices.

Client and Business Support:

• Help Relationship Managers by providing credible credit insights, analysis, and recommendations.
• Balance client needs with responsible and ethical lending practices to support sustainable value creation.
