Job Summary:

Directs the diverse activities within a branch to drive the branch's operational model towards success by prioritizing customer and employee satisfaction, digital interactions, operations efficiency, service standards, and sales performance. Also takes ownership of personal productivity targets.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for driving revenue generation and business growth, while also leading the branch to meet its operational targets and annual performance metrics.
• Manages a team by providing guidance, monitoring performance, and determining priorities. Cultivates and enhances the skills of branch staff members.
• Pinpoints the Retail and Business Banking customer demands within the M&T sales framework, harnessing tools and materials to aid customers in finding short and long-lasting remedies.
• Actively seeks out and cultivates Business Banking relationships through outreach initiatives, effectively boosting growth. Elevates the bank's profile in the community by establishing a strong presence.
• Conducting interviews and making hiring decisions aligned with the staffing strategy.
• Leads by example in showcasing and instructing behaviors focused on customer service and recognizing needs. Upholds and enforces responsibility for implementing the Retail strategy.
• It is important to ensure that operational and regulatory requirements are consistently met, particularly in consumer and business banking domains. Compliance with security and control policies is necessary to mitigate fraud risks and secure customer assets effectively.
• Assumes control of challenging account servicing and error resolution tasks, particularly those raised by other Bankers. Offers coaching and direction to enhance and lessen future resolution and escalation occurrences.
• Engages with team members and business partners appropriately.
• Processes Business Banking loan applications independently, limited to $100,000. Strategically packages products and services where necessary.
• Abides by operational risk controls as per Company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Advocates for an atmosphere that upholds a spirit of inclusiveness and resonates with the M&T Bank image.
• Ensures compliance with internal control standards at M&T, promptly incorporating internal and external audit findings and addressing any concerns raised by external regulators when necessary.
• Executes supplementary duties as instructed.
• Carries out the regular duties of a manager regarding staff management, performance assessments, promotions, salary advice, performance supervision, and terminations.

Scope of Responsibilities:

• Branch Managers bear the responsibility of instituting and preserving adherence to the federal registration standards delineated in the SAFE Act.
• It is essential for Branch Managers to keep themselves updated on operational, product, and system modifications and advancements, while also demonstrating effective risk management decision-making. Moreover, compliance with the Insurance licensing requirements outlined in the MTS Licensed Banker Academy material is mandatory. The minimum expectations for Business Banking Specialists will be defined by the Branch and Retail Regional Manager in tandem.
• Branch Managers typically divide their time between tending to the requirements of existing clientele and concentrating on business expansion by engaging in sales activities and outreach programs.
• Branch Managers play a crucial role in fostering productive partnerships with relevant bank sectors to tackle customer needs, service challenges, and staff problems promptly and accurately. Their responsibility includes taking complete ownership of customer concerns until they are fully resolved.

The credentials and practical experience expected for a certain role:

• Applicants must either possess a Bachelor's degree or have accumulated four years of relevant experience. They should also have a minimum of three years of sales experience, in addition to at least two years of managerial experience or proven leadership skills.
• Within the first 18 months of commencing the role, it is necessary to obtain Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing as mandated by the Market Manager or branch standards, with the added benefit of licensing training being offered within the initial 6 months.
• Within 18 months of employment, individuals have the opportunity to advance to the position of M&T Business Banking Specialist.
• Exhibited proficiency in business banking products, services, and maintaining positive client rapport.

• Fluency in both English and Spanish is ideal for candidates with a Precision Leadership certification
• Skilled in working with commonly used computer programs, like Microsoft Office software for creating written documents and spreadsheets.
• Candidates with a background in internet and email are preferred.
