Job Summary:Credit Portfolio Manager

The Credit Portfolio Manager supports Relationship Manager sales initiatives by contributing to the expansion, development, and effective oversight of loan portfolios to achieve strong performance results. Under the direction of the Group Portfolio Manager or Market Leadership, the role involves assessing risk through portfolio structuring and monitoring, while enhancing profitability through in-depth financial and credit analysis. The PM also collaborates with Relationship Managers to strengthen client relationships and support overall business growth.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is preferred
• Experience in banking, particularly in lending, loan operations, or credit analysis, is required

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective in both independent and team environments
• Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks independently
• Excellent organizational and planning skills
• High ethical standards with strict attention to confidentiality of sensitive information
• Understanding and adherence to banking regulations, policies, and legal requirements relevant to the role, including completion of compliance training and following internal controls; ability to report any policy violations or suspicious activities promptly

Responsibilities:

• Review pre- and post-closing documentation and ensure accurate submission of all required credit files to the bank’s imaging system
• Monitor and review reports to ensure compliance with FirstBank credit policies and regulatory standards
• Analyze credit applications and perform detailed financial statement evaluations using approved bank methodologies
• Track loan portfolio data including balances, commitments, and classifications across clients, industries, regions, and loan categories
• Collaborate with Market Leadership, Regional Presidents, and Credit Officers to support Relationship Managers in portfolio growth and asset quality management
• Monitor overdue accounts and upcoming maturities, notifying Relationship Managers when action is required
• Assess key financial metrics for accurate loan risk grading and portfolio classification
• Apply financial monitoring techniques to evaluate trends and borrower performance
• Stay updated on industry developments, economic changes, and regulatory impacts affecting borrower repayment capacity
• Assist in preparing pitch materials and client presentations
• Participate in sales discussions and work closely with Relationship Managers and teams as part of the client service process
• Represent the PM/RM team in meetings and client discussions when required
• Serve as a secondary point of contact for commercial clients when needed
• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality client service aligned with FirstBank standards
• Follow all regulatory requirements, internal controls, operational procedures, and risk management frameworks
• Apply credit policy standards when evaluating loan applications to ensure consistent and fair decision-making
• Ensure accuracy and timely validation of credit documentation and analysis
• Maintain strong understanding of credit policies and their application in lending decisions
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Perform additional duties as assigned
