Job Summary for CRA Loan Specialist:

The CRA Loan Specialist undertakes various responsibilities connected to initiating residential 1st mortgage loans from external sources. Achieves set sales targets and up-selling goals as outlined by superiors. This position takes on complete ownership of the residential mortgage loan process from the initial application to the final closing stage. Takes on the responsibility and liability of risk by openly communicating thoughts and viewpoints, addressing issues, and adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

Core duties and obligations:

• Cultivate relationships with real estate agents, contractors, and personal connections for networking opportunities.
• Keep yourself informed about the policies and procedures of Fifth Third Mortgage Company.
• Keep abreast of the loan products available, processing protocols, and underwriting standards and overall departmental directives.
• Adhere to the established procedure for handling escalation anomalies.
• Accept applications from candidates by filling out the Fannie Mae form 1003 on the computer.
• Utilize the laptop to communicate and check daily rates, review applicant credit reports, assess Loan Prospector feedback, and send the loan to LOMAS.
• Obtain the necessary paperwork from every applicant and submit the loan package within the deadlines established by the management.
• Supervise the progression of all loans from inception to finalization and generate necessary administrative documentation.
• Keep in touch with branches and/or applicants to ensure they receive timely updates and reports on progress.
• Uphold exceptional customer service standards while overseeing the needs and anticipations of both applicants and support personnel.
• Be present and engage in every scheduled meeting regarding Consumer Lending as directed by supervisors.

Skills Required:

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required, with a preference for a four-year college degree.
• Understanding traditional or official loan criteria.
• Understanding the procedures involved in processing, underwriting, and closing residential mortgages.
• Understanding the federal regulations that oversee real estate lending is essential. Familiarity with the rules that govern real estate lending on a national level is crucial. Knowledge of the federal lending regulations that pertain to real estate loans is necessary. Being well-versed in the federal regulations concerning real estate lending is important. Comprehension of the federal laws that regulate real estate lending is vital.
