The primary responsibility is to assist UMB relationship managers in assessing and underwriting new SBCRE managed investment loans according to established underwriting policies and practices.
Efficiently Structuring and Utilizing Your Daily Hours:
Partner with UMB relationship managers to perform credit underwriting duties for existing/prospective client relationships, which may include but are not limited to the following:
Ascertain the ability of the borrower or guarantor to fulfill repayment obligations through a detailed credit analysis
Appropriate loan structuring recommendations
Formulate and prepare the credit packages to be presented to the credit committee for their approval determination
Creating underwriting paperwork includes analyzing collateral from diverse asset classes and developing pricing and risk rating models that are suitable for each specific credit request.
Handle the submission of loan applications to the UMB senior loan committee on behalf of relationship managers and provide explanations regarding the assessment and approval of the loan.
Review the appraisal upon its receipt to confirm that the assumptions used in the appraisal match the underwriting assumptions and meet the approval conditions.
Provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint sales calls with relationship managers or direct correspondence with clients, and perform various projects/tasks as needed with an emphasis on maintaining UMB TUCE at all times.
Diagnose all connected concerns swiftly while filing all mandated forms and reports promptly and effectively.
Work collaboratively with team members from diverse areas including loan operations, credit analysis, regional commercial banking, business banking, special asset management, loan review, public finance, capital markets, and international banking to harmonize commercial loan resolutions, the closure procedures, and ongoing commercial loan handling.
Lead or engage in different REG underwriting projects depending on availability.
Provide mentorship to REG underwriters and/or portfolio managers at the beginning of their careers.

A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field is a fundamental prerequisite
Successfully handling a diverse range of loans totaling more than $50 million, showcasing adept management proficiency
Excellent communication skills
Skilled in recognizing and overseeing maturing loans, extending term loans, restructuring loans, managing approval processes, altering terms, and incorporating new underwriting practices
Possesses a high level of expertise in assessing credit for major investment commercial real estate properties. Displays a deep understanding of banking products, services, and operational procedures
Proficiency in deciphering policies and protocols, loan agreements, and competence in analyzing credit reports, financial information, and loan paperwork
Key requirements include advanced analytical skills, like evaluating commercial real estate assets and markets, as well as reviewing the financial statements of guarantors, which encompass real estate allocations
Exemplifying the ability to take charge, show self-initiation, and transmit expertise to less seasoned team members
Displays expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and commercial lending technology
