Job Summary:Mortgage Consultant

The Mortgage Consultant originates mortgage loans in an assigned non-bank territory. This role involves taking loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. The individual will follow up to ensure that required documents are secured in a timely manner for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role requires regular engagement in making and soliciting loan sales and performing sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitates the process of securing mortgage funding for clients within an assigned non-bank region.
• Reviews and accepts loan applications, conducts preliminary underwriting assessments, and forwards them to processing and underwriting for approval.
• Assists in swiftly gathering the necessary paperwork for processing, underwriting, and closing activities.
• Engaged in off-site loan sales activities on a regular basis, with a majority of their time, at least 50%, spent outside U.S. Bank premises.

Basic Qualifications:

• Receiving a high school diploma or an equal standing.
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Understanding the pricing determinants and underwriting guidelines set by various mortgage insurance companies is essential.
• Knowledge of the underwriting rules for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors to streamline approval processes.
• Fundamental understanding of laws that pertain to local, state, and national governance.
• Ability to operate self-sufficiently.
• Strong proficiency in evaluating financial data.
• Having a command of effective verbal and written communication strategies.
• A preferred scenario involves having an established base of referrals within the designated market.
