Job Description: Staff Internal Auditor:

Partners with their assigned Line of Business, other Risk, Compliance, and Audit professionals, and RCA Managers to create, implement, maintain, review, or oversee an effective risk management framework. Participates in projects and activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Identifies gaps and recommends solutions to minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes, systems, or human error. Identifies, responds to, and escalates risks as appropriate, serving as a functional liaison between the Line of Business and the Lines of Defense.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • More than five years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of financial services, including financial reporting, accounting practices, tax regulations, SOX requirements, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • In-depth understanding of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • CIA, CPA, or other relevant professional certification or advanced degree.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet concurrent deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supervising audit engagements through detailed planning, including understanding risks, risk mitigation strategies, business processes, key risk areas, and critical controls.
  • Oversee staff auditors performing control testing in accordance with audit program requirements, including appropriate sampling and testing methodologies.
  • Evaluate audit results and ensure documentation supports audit conclusions and complies with internal audit standards.
  • Develop audit issues with audit leadership, including identifying exposures, assessing impact, determining root causes, and recommending cost-effective solutions.
  • Support audit managers during reporting and audit completion phases, including preparation of audit reports.
  • Apply coaching feedback to improve effectiveness and results.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
