Audit Specialist

Position Overview

The Audit Specialist is responsible for assisting in the execution and documentation of risk-based internal audit assurance activities, including complex assignments. This role interprets audit results, identifies internal control weaknesses, and provides value-added recommendations. The Senior Internal Auditor may also lead segments or primary elements of smaller audits or special reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategize and conduct client conversational sessions, documenting results through narrative descriptions, flowcharts, and graphical representations to visualize intricate operational frameworks.
  • Examine process documentation to assess the construction, functionality, and enhancement of controls in place.
  • Devise and execute audit testing plans with a focus on integrating data analytics tools.
  • Highlight shortcomings in internal controls, risks present, and the underlying origins.
  • Support and lead less experienced colleagues to aid in their performance enhancement and development.
  • Articulate audit concerns to ensure understanding by both Management and the Engagement Manager.
  • Enhance your audit capabilities by building risk assessment and project management skills.
  • Strengthen comprehension of organizational operations, policies, protocols, and banking regulations for more informed decision-making.
  • Establish audit work papers consistent with the procedural and documentation requirements stipulated by Truist Audit Services.
  • Perform responsibilities autonomously with limited supervision to meet deadlines and conclude assigned tasks.
  • Welcome and use constructive feedback to enhance future productivity.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a closely related concentration, or a commensurate level of education, experience, and training is necessary.
  • A minimum of four years and a maximum of six years of experience in banking, auditing, or related fields is required.
  • Strengthening comprehension of technology essentials, cybersecurity approaches, maintenance of IT systems, IT service management practices, and evolving IT industry trends.
  • Understanding IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Application Controls (ITACs), and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is vital for the successful implementation of IT projects.
  • Enhancing comprehension of IT, information security, and cloud supervision frameworks like COSO, COBIT, NIST, SOX, and PCI DSS.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Strong comprehension of audit principles, practices, methodologies, risk analysis, and documentation requirements.
  • Mastering the art of analytical, audit, and facilitation skills.
  • Skill in understanding the core concepts within intricate information.
  • Ability to identify core issues and blend data for practical strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software usage.
  • Aptitude for handling a mix of priorities with diverse levels of complexity.
  • Proficient in completing tasks independently with minimal monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The presence of certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CIA, or a commitment to obtaining them, is advantageous.
  • Skill in using Truist Audit Services audit software integrated with industry-specific platforms.
  • A bachelor's degree specializing in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology is a must.
  • Assessing the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of regulatory validation data and paperwork.
  • Capable of developing and executing strategies for regulatory validation testing procedures.
