About the Role

The Operational Risk Officer is a strategic professional role within Citi's Risk Management division. This position serves as a recognized subject matter expert (SME), contributing to the development and execution of risk management strategies. The role requires both technical authority and strong communication skills to influence internal teams and ensure the organization's risk exposure is effectively managed.

With significant impact on operational effectiveness, the Operational Risk Officer plays a vital role in advising on governance, controls, and process improvement while responding to emerging risk trends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and oversee the application of operational risk policies, tools, and governance processes.
• Independently assess risks and drive root cause analysis to mitigate recurring operational losses.
• Serve as SME for Issues Management, including KPIs, KRIs, and Corrective Action Plans.
• Resolve transactional escalations from vendors and internal partners.
• Analyze scorecards and performance data to identify and address risk, financial, or regulatory exposures.
• Monitor vendor performance and maintain oversight of extended supply chains.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Lines of Defense to deliver tailored risk solutions.
• Ensure contract compliance and resolve issues within agreed service levels.
• Exercise sound judgment and autonomy in making business risk decisions.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and uphold Citi’s risk governance framework.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

• 6–10 years in risk management or a related function
• Experience in Third-Party/Vendor Oversight preferred
• Strong business writing and documentation skills

• Policy and procedure development

• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision

Education

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience
