Job Summary:

The Commercial Banking Associate provides tailored financial solutions to clients by supporting day-to-day banking needs, managing and maintaining accounts, and recommending appropriate banking products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development:

• Establish and maintain a consistent rhythm for SBA business growth in the market, including:
• Planning and executing client calls with follow-up tracking
• Client retention outreach
• Prospecting new clients and business opportunities
• Conducting outbound calls to connect with clients and prospects
• Participating in networking events to strengthen professional relationships
• Developing and maintaining a robust Center of Influence (COI) network of community and business leaders to enhance referral generation
• Managing sales activities, evaluating credit, structuring loans, preparing and submitting SBA loan packages, conducting client interviews, and assessing character traits
• Establishing strategic alliances and cultivating new business relationships to expand the client base

Credit Acumen:

• Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of business credit facilities, including:
• Structuring terms and products tailored to business needs, asset lifecycles, and growth strategies
• Analyzing financial statements and tax returns to assess creditworthiness and risk for both businesses and individuals
• Evaluating short- and long-term credit requirements in line with business sales cycles and expansion plans
• Advising clients on bank underwriting standards, SBA programs, and applicable government regulations
• Coordinating with attorneys, loan closers, and internal teams to ensure timely loan closure and funding
• Balancing business priorities with client expectations while managing risk
• Adhering to Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards
• Mentoring junior SBA lenders to develop their professional skills
• Following all bank policies, including BSA, AML, and OFAC compliance requirements
• Reviewing loan applications, collecting required applicant information, and maintaining fair lending practices and ethical sales standards
• Resolving customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating when necessary

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• College degree in finance or related field preferred
• Minimum of five years of experience in SBA lending preferred
• At least 10 years of experience in business development and/or financial services
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office Suite
