The Mortgage Lending Specialist - Retail position focuses on assisting clients in securing mortgage financing while delivering the highest standard of customer service. Responsibilities include leveraging internal and external referral sources to expand the mortgage loan portfolio and fostering strong business relationships within the local community.

As a Mortgage Lending Specialist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships, identifying financial needs, and recommending appropriate banking products and services. This role combines customer service, sales, and financial guidance to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establishes and grows new and existing referral sources both internally and externally to drive mortgage business growth.
• Guides clients through mortgage loan options and other financial products using consultative sales approaches.
• Delivers exceptional customer service from approval through closing, collaborating closely with loan origination sources to validate and secure all necessary information for underwriting.
• Maintains and strengthens client communications and relationships.
• Provides guidance to clients on accurately completing loan applications.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One or more years of mortgage loan origination experience, preferably in a banking environment.
• Active NMLS license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Established pipeline and book of business.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of mortgage loan products, including conventional mortgages, FHA/VA programs, construction financing, and portfolio options.
• Understanding of mortgage procedures, documentation, and underwriting guidelines.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities for cross-selling financial products and services.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency with PC and internet-based applications.
