Job Description: Mortgage Loan Originator

Job Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Originator originates mortgage loans in an assigned non-bank territory. This role involves taking loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. The individual will follow up to ensure that required documents are secured in a timely manner for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role requires regular engagement in making and soliciting loan sales and performing sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Originates mortgage loans within an assigned non-bank territory.
• Takes loan applications, conducts preliminary underwriting reviews, and submits applications to processing and underwriting for approval.
• Ensures required documents for processing, underwriting, and closing are collected promptly.
• Regularly engaged in loan sales activities away from U.S. Bank locations, spending at least 50% of the time in external locations.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements for various mortgage insurance companies.
• Knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors.
• Basic understanding of local, state, and national laws.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical skills for financial information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Established referral base within the assigned market is preferred.
