Playing a key role in the branch team, the Retail Banker focuses on attracting new clients, deepening existing relationships, and assisting clients in building confidence to meet their financial goals. Responsibilities:

  • Utilize information gathered during client conversations to identify areas for financial wellness improvements and offer practical and personalized financial guidance to support clients in achieving financial stability.
  • Upholds a continuous pattern of achieving personal activity, behavior, and outcome targets.
  • Setting up personal and business accounts including consumer checking, small business banking services, various deposit products, home equity financing, unsecured lending options, and certificates of deposit investments.
  • Establishing strong relationships with branch colleagues and business allies to drive client acquisition and deepen connections with current clients, effectively overseeing both internal and external influencers.
  • Compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit guidelines, and ensuring comprehensive documentation of client interactions.
  • Supporting branch activities includes providing help with client transactions at the Teller counter.
  • Join and intermittently support morning team gatherings and conclude the day with feedback sessions.
  • Responsible for executing other assigned tasks; duties, roles, and/or tasks might vary, or new ones might be delegated at any time, with or without prior communication.
  • Consistently follows all KeyBank policies and guidelines, which encompass behaving in a professional manner, upholding ethical standards, preventing conflicts of interest, and always working in the best interests of Key and its clients.

Education Qualifications:

  • Meeting the educational requirement includes a high school diploma, GED, or relevant work history
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in cultivating relationships with current and prospective customers, achieving sales objectives, and building referral channels is a significant prerequisite. The value of sales experience over financial services familiarity is highlighted for this role at KeyBank.   • The loan-to-value ratio is essential for lenders in assessing the risk of a mortgage loan by comparing the amount borrowed to the property's value. This ratio helps determine the level of equity the borrower has in the property
  • Essential grasp of sales and service techniques for engaging with customers, involving tele-consulting, external outreach, prospect discovery, and network building. (mandatory)
  • Experienced in communicating proficiently with small business clients, addressing challenges, and delving into inquiries to better grasp their needs and be supportive
  • Confirmed experience with influencing business partners and harnessing centers of influence is essential for this role, as it will involve significant influence over partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking sales teams. (required)
  • Having a working knowledge of PCs, particularly in operating systems such as MS Windows and Office tools like Word and Excel, is required
  • Fundamental competencies include understanding digital technology (like mobile devices, apps, and online browsing) and the aptitude to educate clients on the digital tools and functions within the Key framework

Tactical Skills:

  • Understands the client's financial records and dealings with the bank and makes wise decisions when interacting with clients and carrying out transactions
  • Shown proficiency in meeting sales and referral objectives through planned meetings and effective dialogues that result in proposals to help customers achieve their financial well-being targets, utilizing lead lists provided by the system, walk-in customers, and established professional relationships
  • Having a dedicated approach to tasks and upholding a high standard of moral principles
  • Proficient at maximizing productivity through well-managed time
