Position Summary:Staff Internal Auditor

The Staff Internal Auditor is responsible for assisting in the execution and documentation of risk-based internal audit assurance activities, including complex assignments. This role interprets audit results, identifies internal control weaknesses, and provides value-added recommendations. The Senior Internal Auditor may also lead segments or primary elements of smaller audits or special reviews.

Vital responsibilities and roles:

  • Prepare for and lead client meetings, documenting findings through detailed narratives, process charts, and visual aids to illustrate complex business processes.
  • Review process documentation to evaluate the implementation, effectiveness, and enhancement of controls utilized.
  • Establish and conduct audit tests by leveraging data analytics in the auditing process.
  • Unveil gaps in internal control structures, risks posed, and the root causes at play.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members to facilitate their progress and success.
  • Present audit issues in a concise and understandable way to Management and the Engagement Manager.
  • Develop advanced audit skills by focusing on risk assessment and project management capabilities.
  • Advance understanding of organizational functions, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements within the banking industry.
  • Construct audit documentation according to the specified procedures and documentation standards of Truist Audit Services.
  • Work self-reliantly with minimal oversight to meet deadlines and accomplish assigned duties.
  • Accept and integrate valuable advice to improve future performance levels.

Required Qualifications:

  • Attainment of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a relevant specialization, or an equivalent mix of educational background and practical familiarity is essential.
  • The position requires a background of four to six years in banking, auditing, or similar disciplines.
  • Deepening knowledge of technology basics, cybersecurity methodologies, administration of IT infrastructure, IT service processes, and ongoing developments in the IT sector.
  • Developing expertise in IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Application Controls (ITACs), and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is essential for ensuring effective IT governance.
  • Broadening understanding of IT, information security, and cloud control structures such as COSO, COBIT, NIST, SOX, and PCI DSS.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of audit principles, practices, methodologies, risk assessment, and documentation procedures.
  • Acquiring the ability to learn analytical, audit, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in recognizing the fundamental ideas in complex data.
  • Capability in recognizing foundational reasons and synthesizing information into actionable proposals.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Skill in navigating through various priorities with different levels of complexity.
  • Ability to work on your own accord with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Those with CISSP, CISA, CIA certifications, or a determination to achieve them, stand out in the field.
  • Expertise in working with Truist Audit Services software and customized business applications.
  • Successful candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Confirming the correctness, thoroughness, and integrity of regulatory validation data and records through evaluation.
  • Familiar with the process of creating and implementing regulatory validation testing strategies.
