Job Summary:

The Mortgage Loan Originator initiates mortgage loans within a specified non-bank area by accepting loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting assessments, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. They are responsible for ensuring the prompt acquisition of required documentation for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role involves consistent engagement in initiating and soliciting loan sales and executing sales-related tasks outside of U.S. Bank premises.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works to establish mortgage loan contracts for individuals residing in a specified non-traditional financial territory.
• Screens loan requests, evaluates them through initial underwriting reviews, and forwards them for approval by processing and underwriting teams.
• Acts promptly to gather all necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing processes.
• Regularly involved in off-site loan selling, with a substantial percentage, at least 50%, of their time spent in locations other than U.S. Bank branches.

Basic Qualifications:

• Achieving the necessary criteria for a high school diploma or its counterpart.
• A year or more of work experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking is needed.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Familiarity with the pricing strategies and risk evaluation criteria utilized by various mortgage insurance companies is necessary.
• Comprehension of the underwriting guidelines for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors to meet requirements effectively.
• Basic grasp of legal frameworks spanning local, state, and national jurisdictions.
• Ability to operate self-sufficiently.
• Astute at analyzing and interpreting financial information.
• Being skilled in articulating thoughts verbally and in writing effectively.
• It is preferable to have an existing set of referrals within the assigned market segment.
