Job Description:Mortgage Consultant

The Mortgage Loan Officer at Regions plays a key role in facilitating the initiation of residential mortgage loans through a branch network.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversees the finalization of mortgage applications before sending them to the loan processing and underwriting departments
• Evaluates loan applications, scrutinizes financial records, and ascertains the qualification of collateral and the credit history of borrowers
• Remains in contact with the loan customer, updating them on the loan's status and gathering any needed documentation
• Revising loan formats to ensure compliance with authorized lending practices and government regulations
• Develop an extensive marketing and business strategy that includes identifying potential and current loan applicants, real estate professionals, contractors, developers, and establishing a routine for regular engagement
• Managing customer interactions by phone and in-person to exchange information on different loan options and eligibility criteria
• Undertakes sales conversations with potential or current clients as defined in the Regions marketing plan to cultivate new business or sustain existing accounts
• Suggests supplementary financial services available at the bank
• Studies surveys and assessments, and carries out corrective measures to rectify encroachments and violations accordingly
• Leverage active participation in organizations and events to boost the visibility of loan offerings

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or GED is a fundamental requirement for many entry-level positions and career paths
• Documented history of mortgage lending achievements over a year with tangible mortgage production results
• Considerable familiarity with the mortgage industry, particularly in developing external business by collaborating with referral partners such as real estate agents, builders, and financial planners

Preferences:

• Bachelor's degree
• Previous position as a Mortgage Loan Officer

Skills and Competencies:

• Good organizational skills
• Knowledgeable about the diversity of mortgage options available, the intricacies of mortgage systems, the specialized language used, as well as tax requirements and programs offering support for down payments.
• Experienced in agency and investor regulations and criteria
• Maintaining high levels of service entails the skill of fostering and managing relationships internally and externally
• Successfully managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines requires adept multitasking skills
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages
• Sales acumen
• Mastery in both written and verbal communication techniques
