Job Summary:

Underwriting Support Assistantare pivotal in bolstering the revenue and asset quality of the commercial lending segment by engaging in activities that cultivate new client relationships, working collaboratively as part of the lending partnership, monitoring the progress of existing client relationships, and overseeing credit risk management processes to ensure that loans are high-quality assets structured to reduce portfolio risk effectively. Their in-depth knowledge of the industries and businesses served allows them to champion the adoption of the bank's loan policies, credit culture, and strategic goals, and they are responsible for evaluating, approving, authorizing, or offering recommendations on client applications for commercial loans while proficiently managing a portfolio of commercial loans.

Key Duties and Functions:

• Assess the financial records of current and prospective customers to gauge their financial standing and capacity to repay debts, undertake routine and annual evaluations, verify compliance with terms, and make alterations to loan terms as needed.
• Investigate every available credit and financial information source, which may include reporting services, credit bureaus, and trade references, with a comprehensive understanding of the market and industry in which the client is engaged.
• Examine the pledged collateral for a loan and liaise with borrowers and financial consultants as requested.
• Gather and exhibit financial details, sector figures, economic factors, and market shifts in necessary presentations, interpreting proportions, developments, and monetary streams.
• Produce meticulous and informed credit briefs that pinpoint risks, repayment origins, exceptions to policies, and evaluations of collateral.
• Understanding credit culture and loan policies thoroughly is essential for advising on risk tolerance, policy adherence, and exceptional cases.
• Capable of overseeing diverse loan portfolios, including complicated borrower profiles, and working closely with Commercial Bankers to establish favorable loan terms.
• Guarantee that loan arrangements are full and precise based on approvals to assist in the swift finalization and financing of loans.
• Maintain loan portfolios to ensure they meet the specified terms and adhere to the requirements set forth in the loan documents.
• Anticipate upcoming trends and weaknesses to reduce exposure, alleviate credit risk, and manage delinquency and potential losses effectively.
• Monitor borrower obedience, repayment schedules, compliance with agreements, paperwork, and conduct regular borrower assessments.
• Make careful and thoughtful decisions with delegated lending authority.
• Support the Special Assets Department in handling problematic loans by overseeing loan repayment strategies, non-accruing assets, and strategies to reduce charge-offs.
• Stay informed about market conditions, industry trends, regulatory advice, and analytical methodologies.
• Display adeptness in demonstrating strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Aid colleagues in the Underwriting department as required to cope with workflow pressures.
• Comply with the standards established in the Code of Conduct of Seacoast Bank.

Education and Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have completed a Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) or higher from a four-year accredited school, majoring in finance, accounting, or business.
• Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in commercial credit analysis, commercial lending, loan structuring, underwriting, finance, and portfolio management, or a similar blend of work history, training, military service, or education.
• A background in formal training for commercial credit is favored.
• Capability to enhance and uphold powerful analytical and risk management proficiencies when engaging in complicated transactions.
• Proficiency in making informed decisions regarding credit endorsements, loan configurations, and advice on management strategies.
• Awareness of a wide range of sectors and commercial property varieties.
• Drawing upon past involvement to evaluate the economic and market landscapes relevant to assigned markets or business segments.
• Ability to analyze collateral effectively and determine its worth through valuation methods.
• Familiarity with commercial lending protocols, methods, and activities involving loan starts, underwriting, paperwork, and assessing credit risk.
