Job Description:Wealth Planning Advisor

The role of a Wealth Planning Advisor requires strong analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a deep understanding of financial markets and investment strategies

This role is accountable to invoke trust and build strong client relationships, determine individual investment needs and provide professional, customized advice to ensure client's financial goals are met. You will provide a superior client onboarding experience, actively reviewing client portfolios and preparing and presenting appropriate investment solutions by leveraging various tools provided by the bank. Being the first point of client contact, the Wealth Planning Advisor's core mandate is to provide investment recommendations based on client suitability, time frame and goals. The Wealth Planning Advisor has the ultimate goal of building and solidifying customer loyalty while deepening client relationships.

Customer:

  • Having a good comprehension of financial markets and recognizing the opportune times to provide clients with guidance is essential
  • Helping clients understand acceptable risks and performance expectations is instrumental in building trust and fostering strong customer relationships that support them in achieving their financial objectives.
  • Develops and sustains positive client relationships while devising individualized plans to assist clients in accomplishing their financial aspirations.
  • Versatile expert in the field of investment products, covering 15 distinct categories
  • Mutual Funds
  • Annuities
  • Managed Accounts
  • Marked Linked CDs
  • Unit Investment Trust
  • Retirement planning
  • Yearly audits of fee-based account functionalities

Financial:

  • Charged with the responsibility of maintaining the growth trajectory of the portfolio
  • Achieve the monthly sales aspiration
  • External Resource Harvesting (which includes prospecting from both current and potential clients)
  • Advice on Maturities
  • Uncovering uninvested opportunities

Risk:

  • Adhering to the internal and FINRA audit protocols
  • The Advisor's key function is to act as a gatekeeper, ensuring that approvals granted align with the regulatory framework set by industry authorities

Financial Advice:

  • Investment Reviews
  • Developing Financial Plans
  • Solution Positioning
  • Defending the Privacy of client Personal Information

Trading:

  • Accuracy
  • Discipline order/confirmation
  • Assess the importance of engaging in the trade activity
  • Follow the rules and regulations set forth in the Best Interest Contract (BIC) for each recommendation made
  • Stay abreast and flexible in response to the evolving regulatory environment
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge and act as a valuable resource on software applications including LPL's ClientWorks, SalesForce, and Moneyguide-Pro

This section concerns the obligations, discretionary decisions, and the scope and ramifications of one's actions within the organization:

  • Decision Making - Offer investment suggestions that are suitable for the client's risk profile, investment horizon, and goals
  • Provides wealth and investment assistance to BMO clients and potential leads by understanding their financial goals. Delivers personalized wealth and investment advice and strategies that prioritize the customer's best interests.
  • Implements sales and service practices for customers following approved procedures and channels them to relevant business groups when necessary.
  • Understanding and the ability to elucidate concepts such as Cost Basis, Tax forms, IRA (Individual Retirement Account) RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) withdrawals, and the penalties for early withdrawals are imperative for financial literacy
  • Ensure the accuracy of client accounts and obtain all regulatory acknowledgements
  • Utilize authority to impact the delivery of investment advice while ensuring compliance with the BIS provisions and relevant securities legislation
  • This role has direct impact on the achievement of key business unit objectives

Knowledge and Skills:

  • The job requires a college education and a background of 3-5 years in the finance field
  • In the financial services sector, it is a regular practice for professionals to hold certifications like Series 7 and 66 licenses, or to have a combination such as Series 7, 63, and 65 licenses alongside insurance licenses for life and health products
  • Ensuring adherence to the background screening criteria outlined under U4 regulations is necessary
  • Oversight of continuing education is a shared responsibility between BMO and FINRA
