Job Summary:

The Mortgage Originator is responsible for initiating mortgage loans within a designated non-bank region. Their duties include accepting loan requests, conducting initial underwriting assessments, and presenting applications for processing and underwriting evaluation. They will also be responsible for ensuring prompt acquisition of necessary documentation for processing, underwriting, and finalizing loan agreements. The position entails actively participating in generating and soliciting loan transactions and engaging in sales-related tasks outside of U.S. Bank premises.

Key Responsibilities:

• Generates home loan applications in a designated area for a non-traditional financial institution.
• Reviews loan requests, performs initial underwriting evaluations, and forwards applications to processing and underwriting departments for authorization.
• Ensures timely gathering of necessary paperwork for processing, underwriting, and completion.
• Frequently involved in off-site loan sales activities, dedicating a minimum of half their time outside U.S. Bank premises.

Basic Qualifications:

• Completion of high school requirements or a comparable credential.
• At least twelve months of background in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking is required.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Understanding the fundamental principles of pricing and underwriting criteria across different mortgage insurance firms is crucial.
• Understanding the necessary criteria for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors when assessing underwriting needs.
• Fundamental comprehension of laws at the local, state, and national levels.
• Capability to function autonomously.
• Proficient ability in analyzing financial data.
• Being proficient in both spoken and written communication abilities.
• It is desirable to have a set group of recommendations within the designated market.
