Job Description:Relationship Credit Manager

In charge of underwriting the credit exposure for Wholesale Banking clients and handling a Middle Market or CML portfolio. This position requires regular interaction with clients, managing risks within the portfolio, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and compliance mandates. A critical aspect of the role is to quickly identify emerging credit problems and industry developments.

Highlighted key tasks and duties that are crucial to the role:

  • Supervise the entire process of commercial underwriting for potential prospects and clients, encompassing analysis, documentation, and collaboration with internal and external entities.
  • Support and design the financial components of all customer and potential deals, ensuring the exactness of real estate value assessments, environmental surveys, and UCC examinations.
  • Analyze financial statements, business strategies, and key uncertainties, proposing backed recommendations and financial support selections.
  • Sustain a comprehensive understanding of client sectors and the bank's suite of credit and auxiliary products to propose appropriate loan arrangements.
  • Verify that underwriting practices are in line with regulatory and compliance guidelines and the bank's risk framework.
  • Monitor the assigned portfolio by assessing its performance, trends, and potential credit risks, and responding promptly to address any concerns.
  • Preserve the accuracy of risk assessments, finalize annual reviews, distribute financial statements, and fulfill all obligatory compliance and regulatory evaluations.
  • Ensure oversight of modifications and exceptions in the assigned portfolio by implementing a risk management approach that is forward-thinking, transparent, and proactive.
  • Engage with internal product teams to design and present credit solutions that meet client needs and conform to the bank's pricing and risk acceptance standards.
  • Present an original, current, and proactive evaluation of the risks linked to specified clients and potential customers, including drafting risk mitigation strategies.
  • Supervise a challenging portfolio with significant credit exposure, demanding strong decision-making skills, analytical problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to make independent judgments.
  • Formulate and articulate an independent stance to sway key credit determinations and assist in coaching newer team members.
  • Participate in and lead tasks or programs that uphold the broader Portfolio Management platform in addition to everyday portfolio responsibilities.
  • Maintain a commitment to delivering superior credit and underwriting analysis while upholding stringent operational and credit risk standards.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • An undergraduate degree in finance or a related area is essential.
  • A proven history of conducting commercial credit analysis for a period exceeding five years.
  • Advanced skills in using MS Office applications.
  • Competent in interpersonal interaction and both written and verbal communication.
  • Exhibited reliable credit assessment and analytical capability.
  • Extraordinary scrutiny of details.
  • Proficiency in managing competing demands and multitasking in a rapid-paced setting.

Preferred:

  • Previous history in a parallel position at a commercial financial organization.
  • In-depth understanding of a particular industry or sector.
  • Ability to effectively navigate Truist's operational tools which consist of COMPASS, MRA, Salesforce, and nCino.
