Job Summary:

The Portfolio Manager supports Relationship Managers in driving portfolio growth by developing, managing, and optimizing loan portfolios to achieve strong financial performance. In coordination with Group Portfolio Managers and Market Leadership, this role focuses on credit risk assessment, portfolio oversight, and profitability enhancement through detailed financial and credit analysis. The position also contributes to strengthening client relationships and supporting overall business development efforts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred
• Experience in banking, particularly in lending, credit analysis, or loan operations, is required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective in both individual and team environments
• Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities
• High level of integrity with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, policies, and compliance requirements, including timely reporting of any violations or suspicious activity

Responsibilities:

• Review pre- and post-closing documentation and ensure proper submission of required credit files into the bank’s imaging system.
• Monitor and validate reports to ensure compliance with FirstBank credit policies and portfolio monitoring standards.
• Perform credit analysis and evaluate financial statements using standardized banking tools.
• Track loan portfolio performance including commitments, balances, loan types, property details, geography, and other key metrics.
• Partner with Market Leadership, Regional Presidents, and Credit Officers to support Relationship Managers in portfolio growth and asset quality management.
• Monitor delinquency trends and upcoming maturities, escalating issues to Relationship Managers as needed.
• Analyze financial data to support accurate risk rating and loan grading decisions.
• Apply knowledge of financial spreads and modeling to assess borrower strength and portfolio health.
• Conduct market and industry research to evaluate economic trends and regulatory impacts affecting borrowers.
• Assist in preparing pitch materials and presentations for prospective clients when required.
• Collaborate with Relationship Managers as part of a unified sales and credit support team.
• Serve as a secondary point of contact for commercial clients when needed.
• Ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality customer service aligned with FirstBank standards.
• Adhere to all banking regulations, internal controls, operational procedures, risk management policies, and security protocols.
• Perform independent credit reviews and provide objective assessment of loan requests and risk grading.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all credit documentation and analysis.
• Maintain strong understanding of credit policy and its application in lending decisions.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
