Underwriting Support Assistant

Job Summary:

The Underwriting Support Assistant is responsible for providing operational and analytical support for new loan originations and renewals involving mortgage warehousing, mortgage servicing rights, working capital lines of credit, and other commercial lending products. This role partners closely with lending officers and underwriters to assist with credit evaluations and the review of transactions that may include complex structures in a fast-paced environment.

A central duty includes supporting the review of loan structures, financial reports, entity documentation, collateral records, market research, and industry analyses to help identify potential risks and contribute to recommendations for Credit Administration. Responsibilities also include preparing deal summaries, assembling loan presentation materials, drafting administrative documentation, and assisting with annual relationship reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in evaluating the financial strength and associated risks of financing requests in accordance with the bank’s credit policies and current market conditions.
• Review detailed financial statements with interconnected components to compile accurate information for financing packages presented to senior leadership or the Loan Committee.
• Customer Engagement: Participate in virtual and on-site meetings at client facilities alongside sales and underwriting teams, interacting with existing and prospective customers as needed.
• Provide support to underwriters and credit analysts by reviewing documentation such as compliance certificates and select underwriting elements.
• Work collaboratively with internal sales, processing, and treasury management teams to help maintain and expand comprehensive banking relationships.

Qualifications:

• Two or more years of related professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• Basic understanding of banking operations, including deposit services, loan administration, treasury management, and commercial banking products.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, legal standards, and established industry practices.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
