Job Summary:

As a Commercial Underwriter, you'll be responsible for underwriting new loan and renewal requests for mortgage warehousing, mortgage servicing rights, working capital lines of credit, and other bank lending products. You will work closely with lending officers to conduct credit analysis and assess loans with complex structures in a fast-paced environment.

Your key responsibility is to review loan structures, financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data, and industry reports to evaluate inherent risks and prepare recommendations to Credit Administration. This includes creating opportunity memos, loan presentations, administrative action memos, and annual relationship reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Qualification & Risk Assessment: Perform financial and risk assessments for potential financing requests, considering the bank’s credit culture and current industry trends.
• Financial Statement Analysis: Review complex financial statements involving interlocking relationships and gather necessary information to present financing requests to senior management or Loan Committee.
• Customer Interaction: Attend virtual or on-site due diligences at customer operations or servicing centers and meet with existing or potential customers alongside the sales team.
• Mentorship: Guide junior credit analysts by reviewing their work, including compliance certificates and minor underwriting items.
• Team Collaboration: Work with internal sales, processing, and treasury management teams to build multifaceted banking relationships.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 2+ years of related experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Knowledge:
• Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and/or other commercial banking products and services.
• Familiarity with regulatory and legal compliance obligations, industry standards, and practices.
• Communication: Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
