Role Overview: Audit Associate

The Audit Associate is responsible for assisting in the execution and documentation of risk-based internal audit assurance activities, including complex assignments. This role interprets audit results, identifies internal control weaknesses, and provides value-added recommendations. The Senior Internal Auditor may also lead segments or primary elements of smaller audits or special reviews.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Arrange and oversee client consultations, documenting results through written accounts, diagrams, and visual aids to depict intricate business processes.
  • Analyze process documentation to determine the efficiency, impact, and streamlining of controls integrated.
  • Construct and execute audit testing strategies with an emphasis on data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Determine lapses in internal control procedures, risks arising, and the underlying drivers.
  • Offer assistance and mentorship to less seasoned team members to aid in their performance improvement and growth.
  • Communicate audit discrepancies clearly to both Management and the Engagement Manager.
  • Hone your audit skills while cultivating risk assessment and project management expertise.
  • Deepen insight into the operational mechanisms of organizations, their policies, procedures, and compliance with banking regulations.
  • Compose audit documentation adhering to the prescribed procedures and documentation standards of Truist Audit Services.
  • Execute tasks independently with limited supervision to meet deadlines and fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Receive and implement constructive feedback for ongoing performance improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's program in accounting, business, or a related field, or a comparable combination of educational attainment and hands-on know-how is mandatory.
  • Applicants should have acquired four to six years of experience in banking, auditing, or related sectors.
  • Improving familiarity with technology concepts, cybersecurity frameworks, IT infrastructure management, IT service procedures, and industry advancements.
  • Becoming proficient in IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Application Controls (ITACs), and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is essential for IT specialists to ensure the security and integrity of information systems.
  • Advancing proficiency in IT, information security, and cloud governance guidelines including COSO, COBIT, NIST, SOX, and PCI DSS.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Sound understanding of audit principles, methodologies, practices, risk assessment, and documentation obligations.
  • Improving knowledge in analytical, audit, and facilitation abilities.
  • Skill in understanding the fundamental principles within intricate data.
  • Proficiency in identifying the fundamental roots and integrating information for actionable plans.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Proficiency in managing a range of priorities with varying levels of complexity.
  • Competency in working independently with minimal guidance.

Preferred Skills and Credentials

  • The possession of, or eagerness to pursue, certifications including CISSP, CISA, CIA, is highly regarded.
  • Capability in managing Truist Audit Services software alongside specialized business applications.
  • The minimum educational requirement is a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and soundness of regulatory validation data and paperwork through examination.
  • Skilled in executing and developing regulatory validation testing strategies.
