Job Summary:

Supervises the operational aspects of a branch to ensure the branch's overall efficiency and success, focusing on enhancing customer and employee experiences, increasing digital engagement, optimizing transactions and operations, improving service quality, boosting sales, and meeting personal production objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Overseeing sales operations and business development endeavors to optimize profitability, achieve operational objectives, and meet annual branch targets.
• Manages and mentors the team by offering coaching, conducting performance assessments, and establishing priorities. Develops and supports branch staff.
• Pinpoints the requirements of Retail and Business Banking customers through the M&T sales strategies, using tools and resources to help customers with immediate and enduring solutions.
• Establishes and strengthens Business Banking relationships through proactive outreach efforts, facilitating growth opportunities. Amplifies the bank's local presence and community involvement through impactful initiatives.
• Uses interviews to pick employees based on the staffing plan.
• Exhibits and coaches behaviors centered on customer service and needs assessment in an engaged manner. Enforces and upholds accountability for executing the Retail strategy.
• Meeting operational and regulatory guidelines, especially in consumer and business banking, is essential for ensuring compliance. Upholding security protocols and control policies is key to preventing fraud and safeguarding customer assets effectively.
• Addresses intricate account servicing and error resolution issues, including those brought up by other Bankers. Offers guidance and coaching to enhance and lessen potential resolution problems and escalations.
• Engages actively with team members and partners when necessary.
• Processes Business Banking loan applications independently, specifically those under $100,000. Strategically bundles products and services as required.
• Abides by compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company standards and regulatory expectations.
• Cultivates an atmosphere that fosters a sense of inclusiveness and reflects the identity of M&T Bank.
• Ensures M&T internal control standards are followed, promptly implementing internal and external audit points and addressing any issues raised by external regulators as required.
• Executes any other related tasks as assigned.
• Manages the regular responsibilities of a manager in regard to staffing, evaluating performance, promotions, salary recommendations, performance supervision, and terminations.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a Retail Regional Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for leading the branch team to achieve annual sales and profitability goals, demonstrating a thorough understanding of branch operations.

• Branch Managers are entrusted with the task of ensuring adherence to the federal registration criteria detailed in the SAFE Act.
• Branch Managers must stay current on operational, product, and system changes/enhancements, as well as demonstrate good risk management decisions. In addition, Insurance licensing minimum expectations must be maintained as outlined in MTS Licensed Banker Academy document. Business Banking Specialist minimum expectations will be set by both the Branch and Retail Regional Manager.
• Branch Managers must effectively divide their time between managing current clients and driving business expansion by actively engaging in sales activities and reaching out to new prospects.
• Branch Managers are responsible for building productive partnerships with appropriate areas of the bank to ensure customer needs, service issues, and employee issues are resolved timely and accurately. Branch Managers are responsible for taking full ownership of customer issues until they are completely resolved.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

• It is common for Branch Managers to directly manage the staff within the branch.

The educational background and hands-on experience required for a specific position:

• Bachelors degree, OR, in lieu of degree, Four (4) years relevant experience. Minimum three years sales experience. Minimum two years managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
• Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing must be completed within 18 months after joining the position, as stipulated by the Market Manager or branch obligations. Training for obtaining the necessary licenses is conducted within the initial 6-month period.
• Employees have the potential to achieve the role of M&T Business Banking Specialist within 18 months after being hired.
• Exhibited a strong understanding of business banking offerings, services, and effectively managing client relationships.

• Candidates who are certified in Precision Leadership and have proficiency in both English and Spanish, particularly with a preference for Spanish, are encouraged to apply
• Knowledgeable in using common computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office software for word processing and spreadsheet functions.
