Job Summary:

As a Commercial Underwriter, your role involves evaluating new loan applications and renewals for various bank lending products, including mortgage warehousing, mortgage servicing rights, and working capital lines of credit. You will collaborate closely with lending officers to analyze creditworthiness and assess loans with complex structures in a fast-paced environment.

Your primary responsibility includes reviewing loan structures, financial spreads, entity structures, collateral, market data, and industry reports to evaluate potential risks and prepare recommendations for Credit Administration. This includes drafting opportunity memos, loan presentations, administrative action memos, and annual relationship reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct preliminary evaluations and risk assessments for financing requests in alignment with the Bank’s credit policies and current market conditions.
• Perform detailed financial statement analysis, reviewing complex financial documents and gathering necessary information to present financing recommendations to senior management or the Loan Committee.
• Participate in virtual or on-site due diligence visits at client locations, working alongside the sales team to meet with existing and prospective customers.
• Support and mentor junior credit analysts by reviewing their work, including compliance certificates and routine underwriting items.
• Collaborate with internal sales, processing, and treasury management teams to build comprehensive banking relationships.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Intermediate understanding of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management, and commercial banking products and services.
• Familiarity with regulatory and legal compliance requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
