The Mortgage Loan Officer originates mortgage loans in an assigned non-bank territory. This role involves taking loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. The individual will follow up to ensure that required documents are secured in a timely manner for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role requires regular engagement in making and soliciting loan sales and performing sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Specializes in initiating mortgage loans for clients in a specific non-traditional banking area.
• Screens loan applications, conducts initial underwriting reviews, and sends them for approval by the processing and underwriting staff.
• Ensures the prompt collection of all required documents for processing, underwriting, and closure processes.
• Consistently selling loans away from U.S. Bank locations, allocating at least half of their schedule to external sales activities.

Basic Qualifications:

• Fulfilling the prerequisites for a high school diploma or an analogous degree.
• One year of prior experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking is a prerequisite.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Comprehending the pricing mechanisms and underwriting prerequisites of multiple mortgage insurance firms is vital.
• Understanding the underwriting demands for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors for informed decision-making.
• Basic grasp of legal frameworks spanning local, state, and national jurisdictions.
• Capacity for independent performance.
• Competent in deciphering and processing financial information.
• Proficiency in both verbal and written forms of communication.
• It is preferable to have a pre-established referral network within the given market.
