Commercial Loan Manager

Job Summary:

The Commercial Loan Manager is responsible for overseeing the commercial loan and deposit portfolio that caters to the needs of one or more Relationship Managers specializing in commercial transactions with exposure to commercial real estate. Key aspects of this role include conducting comprehensive underwriting assessments, ensuring effective portfolio management, and providing exceptional client support while adhering to the bank's policies and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scrutinize financial statements to determine creditworthiness in the context of new, renewed, or ongoing loan relationships.
• Generate thorough credit notes with borrower evaluations, risk analyses, and recommended strategies.
• Employ industry and market analysis to bolster lending evaluations.
• Establish loan packages that are aligned with client requirements as well as the overall goals of the organization.
• Help manage loan applications on their path to credit approval.
• Oversee loan portfolios by monitoring covenants, conducting yearly reviews, and managing exceptions that may occur.
• Determine and amend risk scores in response to updated financial and market data.
• Uphold internal policies and ensure adherence to state and federal regulations.
• Join forces with Relationship Managers, credit teams, and operations to address any issues relating to documentation or compliance.
• Help out with client meetings and presentations whenever needed.
• Sustain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including legal representatives, evaluators, and developers.
• Support strategies to minimize past-due loans and effectively manage risk within the portfolio.
• Participate in continuous learning and growth opportunities for professional development.
• Follow the necessary guidelines set forth by BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC regulations.
• Execute additional tasks as designated.

Qualifications:

• Successful applicants should have completed a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a similar field (or have relevant experience).
• Qualified applicants should have accumulated 4 to 6 years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, or business banking.
• The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of experience in portfolio management and underwriting, particularly with middle market clients.
• Profound knowledge of structuring loans and the documentation process.
• Knowledge of accounting fundamentals and loan policies.
• Familiarity with the regulatory frameworks for lending, including federal and state regulations.
