Job Summary:

The Loan Originator originates mortgage loans in an assigned non-bank territory. This role involves taking loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. The individual will follow up to ensure that required documents are secured in a timely manner for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role requires regular engagement in making and soliciting loan sales and performing sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tasks include originating mortgage loans for clients in a defined area not associated with traditional banking institutions.
• Assesses loan applications, conducts preliminary underwriting assessments, and submits them for processing and underwriting approval.
• Acts promptly to gather all necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing processes.
• Consistently conducting loan sales away from U.S. Bank premises, with a significant portion, around 50%, of their working hours dedicated to external sites.

Basic Qualifications:

• Meeting the graduation requirements for high school or a similar educational achievement.
• The job requires a minimum of one year of experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Familiarity with the pricing strategies and underwriting requirements of diverse mortgage insurance companies is necessary.
• Comprehension of the underwriting prerequisites for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors to facilitate efficient decision-making.
• Basic awareness of laws concerning different geographical scopes such as local, state, and national.
• Skill in accomplishing objectives independently.
• High competency in processing and analyzing financial information.
• Demonstrating proficiency in verbal and written communication competencies.
• It is preferable to have an existing set of referrals within the assigned market segment.
