Loan Portfolio Manager

Job Summary:

The role of the Loan Portfolio Manager involves supporting the management of the commercial loan and deposit portfolio serving one or more Relationship Managers in the commercial sector, including exposure to commercial real estate. Central to this position is the execution of quality underwriting practices, strategic portfolio oversight, and the provision of excellent client assistance while upholding the bank's regulatory and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine financial statements to ascertain the eligibility of individuals or entities for credit in new, renewed, or existing loan associations.
• Develop detailed credit memos that analyze borrowers, assess risks, and provide recommendations.
• Gather industry and market data to provide a foundation for lending determinations.
• Design customized loan packages that are in line with both client preferences and the strategic aims of the organization.
• Facilitate the journey of loan applications through the credit approval procedure.
• Track loan portfolios, including monitoring covenants, conducting annual reviews, and addressing any exceptions that may arise.
• Assign new risk ratings by analyzing the latest financial and market information.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies as well as state and federal regulations.
• Coordinate efforts with Relationship Managers, credit teams, and operations to rectify issues with documentation or compliance.
• Provide support during client meetings and presentations as requested.
• Uphold positive and enduring partnerships with stakeholders, including legal advisors, valuers, and property developers.
• Support initiatives aiming to minimize late loan payments and efficiently control risk exposure in the portfolio.
• Be actively involved in professional development activities to improve competencies.
• Maintain compliance with rules and regulations such as BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
• Complete tasks as instructed above and beyond regular duties.

Qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related area (or comparable experience) is a prerequisite.
• Ideal candidates should possess between 4 and 6 years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, or business banking.
• The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of experience in supporting middle market clients through portfolio management and underwriting.
• Thorough understanding of loan structuring and the necessary paperwork.
• Comprehension of accounting guidelines and lending protocols.
• Knowledge of lending guidelines established by federal and state authorities.
