Job Title: Credit and Collections Officer

Position Summary:

To maintain a healthy loan portfolio for the bank, the Credit and Collections Officer is responsible for contacting customers who are behind on payments to establish repayment arrangements or resolve outstanding balances.

Key Duties and Roles:

• Manages incoming and outgoing calls to address delinquent non-real estate and/or real estate accounts, identifying the underlying causes of delinquency.
• Oversees the processing, distribution, and posting of indirect loan payments efficiently.
• Performs maintenance tasks for loan documentation.
• Facilitates telephone-based payment submissions to the corporate office for account reconciliation.
• Advises clients on their financial obligations and offers potential alternatives and recommendations.
• Keeps accurate records of account statuses and collection efforts in the bank’s record-keeping software.
• May require working beyond standard 8-5 hours to pursue collection activities.
• Ensures all departmental activities and documentation comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including completion of essential compliance training.
• Demonstrates knowledge of multiple core operating systems.
• Performs additional duties as assigned, which may include training new associates, managing the Consumer Collections inbox, handling Total Loss/Captive Claim accounts, managing Debt Management accounts/spreadsheets, and supporting Policy and Procedure administration.

Qualifications:

• Ability to interpret and follow straightforward directives, brief memos, and short written communications.
• Skill in analyzing financial statements and legal materials.
• Competence in preparing simple business communications and routine reports.
• Proficiency in drafting written responses to customer complaints, regulatory agencies, or business associates.

Education And/Or Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Six to eight years of collections experience, or equivalent ability to perform the essential duties effectively.

Computer Skills:

• Proficiency with the Jack Henry platform, MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
