Job Overview:

The Audit Manager plays a key role in delivering independent, objective, and risk-based internal audit assurance and advisory services. This role develops specialized expertise in financial services, risk management, and internal controls, while supporting business line relationship management and ongoing risk monitoring. The Audit Manager ensures that all audit work adheres to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and organizational requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage large and complex audit engagements, including planning, scoping, development of audit test plans, and effective coordination of engagement resources.
  • Lead execution of audit fieldwork, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with internal quality standards.
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for quality, accuracy, and documentation consistency across all assigned audit activities.
  • Analyze process documentation to evaluate operational effectiveness, internal controls, and efficiency of business processes.
  • Prepare meaningful, well-supported audit reports aligned with the organization’s risk appetite framework and present findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on business operations, regulatory requirements, and specialized audit topics.
  • Apply advanced risk management knowledge to assess the significance of audit findings, potential exposures, materiality considerations, and broader organizational impacts.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to junior auditors, including performance feedback and setting clear expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with assigned business units and assist in evaluating associated risk profiles to ensure proper audit coverage.
  • Participate in key business initiatives, projects, and forums to stay current on emerging risks, business changes, and regulatory developments.
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks and audit projects while maintaining high levels of accuracy, prioritization, and professional judgment.
  • Continue developing expertise in auditing techniques, data analytics, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Champion innovative audit tools, methods, and data analysis techniques to improve audit effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support Audit Directors by contributing to annual planning, audit scheduling, and risk assessment processes.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory updates, and specialized technical developments relevant to the audit function.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent education and experience).
  • 8–10 years of internal or external audit experience, preferably in a project lead or management role.
  • Advanced knowledge of audit principles, internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of banking and financial services operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of technology, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and IT service management practices.
  • Proficiency in ITGCs, ITACs, SDLC, and major control frameworks (COSO, COBIT, NIST, SOX, PCI DSS).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to identify root causes and articulate underlying risks effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard audit tools.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Relevant professional certification (CIA, CISA, CPA, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS Accounting, MS Information Systems).
  • Familiarity with Truist Audit Services tools and business-specific applications.
  • CISSP or similar cybersecurity certification.
  • Subject matter expertise in cybersecurity, IT risk, or technology governance.
  • Experience operating in a heavily regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong presentation skills suitable for senior and executive audiences.
  • Ability to work across multiple technical domains (Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, IT Risk, Technology Governance)
