Credit Portfolio Manager

Job Description:

The Credit Portfolio Manager assists in managing the commercial loan and deposit portfolio for one or multiple Relationship Managers in the commercial sector with exposure to commercial real estate. Their responsibilities include prioritizing sound underwriting practices, efficient portfolio administration, and providing exceptional customer service within the framework of bank regulations and risk guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate financial documentation to determine the creditworthiness of potential, renewed, or current loan arrangements.
• Draft thorough credit memorandums comprising a borrower evaluation, risk evaluation, and suggestions.
• Perform thorough market and industry analysis to assist in making informed lending judgments.
• Develop loan packages that meet the requirements of both clients and the goals of the organization.
• Direct loan applications through the process of obtaining credit approval.
• Supervise loan holdings, which involve overseeing covenant compliance, yearly evaluations, and handling deviations from standard practices.
• Evaluate and modify risk classifications according to revised financial and market data.
• Make sure to adhere to internal policies and comply with both state and federal regulations.
• Work together with Relationship Managers, credit departments, and operations to address any documentation or compliance concerns.
• Support in client meetings and presentations when required.
• Foster solid connections with a variety of stakeholders including lawyers, evaluators, and builders.
• Aid in reducing overdue loans and proficiently handling risk within the portfolio.
• Engage in continuous education and opportunities for career growth.
• Make sure to comply with regulatory standards such as BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
• Carry out any extra tasks that may be required.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a similar field (or relevant experience) is required.
• Having a background of 4 to 6 years in the field of commercial banking, credit assessment, or business banking is required.
• A minimum of two years of experience in managing portfolios and/or underwriting for middle market customers is required.
• Proficient knowledge of how loans are organized and the paperwork involved.
• Understanding accounting rules and borrowing norms.
• Understanding federal and state rules regarding lending practices.
