Commercial Portfolio Manager

Job Summary:

The Commercial Portfolio Manager supports the commercial loan and deposit portfolio for one or more Relationship Managers (Commercial with some CRE exposure). This role focuses on high-quality underwriting, effective portfolio management, and delivering strong client service while adhering to bank policies and risk standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect financial statements to evaluate creditworthiness when establishing new, renewed, or existing loan agreements.
• Craft detailed credit notes containing borrower analyses, risk appraisals, and recommended measures.
• Incorporate industry and market findings to strengthen lending decision-making processes.
• Develop loan packages that are customized to meet the unique needs of clients and also support organizational objectives.
• Assist in maneuvering loan applications through the credit approval process.
• Supervise loan portfolios, including monitoring covenant adherence, carrying out yearly assessments, and managing exceptions as needed.
• Adjust and set risk ratings according to the revised financial and market insights.
• Be certain to comply with internal policies and all state and federal regulations that apply.
• Partner closely with Relationship Managers, credit teams, and operations to resolve any challenges with documentation or compliance.
• Provide assistance during client meetings and presentations as requested.
• Establish and preserve strong connections with various stakeholders, such as lawyers, evaluators, and development professionals.
• Support efforts to decrease overdue loans and enhance risk management practices in the portfolio.
• Engage in professional development activities to stay updated in your field.
• Ensure that all necessary protocols are in place to comply with BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC guidelines.
• Follow through with any added tasks as warranted.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software is required.
• The role demands a background of 4-6 years in commercial banking, credit analysis, or business banking.
• Candidates should have a proven track record of at least two years in portfolio management and underwriting for middle market clients.
• Sound knowledge of loan structuring and the documentation that accompanies it.
• Expertise in financial regulations and lending procedures.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing lending, spanning federal and state jurisdictions.

Work Environment:

• Long periods of sitting or standing may be mandatory.
• Repeated use of computers and examination of complex financial records.
