CRA Loan Officer

Job Overview:

The CRA Loan Officer is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing loans that meet the requirements of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). This role focuses on serving low- and moderate-income communities by providing access to credit and financial services that support economic development. The CRA Loan Officer will work closely with community organizations, real estate professionals, and local stakeholders to identify and capitalize on lending opportunities that align with the bank’s CRA goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Loan Origination & Underwriting:
• Originate and underwrite CRA-eligible loans, including home mortgages, small business loans, and community development loans.
• Ensure compliance with CRA regulations, bank policies, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• Community Engagement:
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, nonprofit groups, and local government agencies to identify lending opportunities in underserved areas.
• Promote the bank’s CRA initiatives to local stakeholders and align lending activities with the bank’s community development strategy.
• Portfolio Management:
• Manage a portfolio of CRA-eligible loans and ensure high-quality loan production.
• Assist borrowers throughout the loan process, ensuring a seamless experience and timely follow-up.
• Market Development:
• Identify opportunities for expanding the bank’s CRA lending footprint and increasing community engagement.
• Stay informed about the needs of underserved communities to effectively offer tailored financial products.
• Reporting & Compliance:
• Track and report CRA loan activity to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Maintain accurate loan documentation and ensure timely submission of reports.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience working with CRA loans or serving underserved communities is highly preferred.

Skills:

• Knowledge of CRA regulations and community development lending.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to assess financial needs and tailor lending solutions.
• Proficient in financial analysis, loan origination software, and regulatory compliance.
