Job Summary:Mortgage Specialist

The Mortgage Specialist originates mortgage loans in an assigned non-bank territory. This role involves taking loan applications, conducting preliminary underwriting reviews, and submitting applications for processing and underwriting approval. The individual will follow up to ensure that required documents are secured in a timely manner for processing, underwriting, and closing. The role requires regular engagement in making and soliciting loan sales and performing sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Works to establish mortgage loan contracts for individuals residing in a specified non-traditional financial territory.
• Manages loan application submissions, performs initial underwriting evaluations, and submits them to processing and underwriting departments for authorization.
• Promotes the efficient collection of essential documents for processing, underwriting, and finalizing.
• Dedicated to conducting loan sales in external locations, with over half of their work hours spent away from U.S. Bank sites.

Basic Qualifications:

• Satisfying the conditions for a high school diploma or a corresponding certificate.
• A background of at least twelve months in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking is mandatory.
• Ability to travel.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Well-developed sales ability.
• Having insight into the pricing structures and underwriting protocols of different mortgage insurance providers is important.
• Familiarity with the underwriting regulations for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors to ensure accuracy.
• Primary comprehension of legal statutes within local, state, and national domains.
• Talent for completing tasks solo.
• Astute at analyzing and interpreting financial information.
• Showing expertise in both oral and written communication skills.
• It is advantageous to have a reliable source of referrals already established in the assigned market.
